4 Reasons Website Images are Important

4 reasons website images are important and secrets to image optimization

We’ve all heard the saying “A picture is worth a thousand words”. We’re highly visual beings and we process visual information very quickly. Therefore, images can be an incredibly powerful way to communicate with and capture the attention of visitors to your website. One image can convey more than a block of text.

So, knowing this, let’s discuss the 4 reasons website images are important:

1. Website images help make better connections

People like to buy from businesses they feel they know, like, and trust. In order to build that connection, you should include lifestyle photos of you on your website. Lifestyle images are valuable tools for connecting with visitors to your website and for giving your business personality.

Photos of you (and your team) will help potential clients start to feel like they know you and therefore be more likely to hire you.

Behind the scenes images of you – in your workspace, in a showroom selecting tile, working on organizing a pantry, or staging a bedroom for an open house – can help to explain what you do and how you do it more efficiently than words.

Images are a great way for your business to really engage your audience.

I always recommend hiring a photographer so you can have your own, unique, branded images. But, if that’s not possible, a great place to find stock photos is Creative Market.

2. Website images are fantastic marketing tools

As an interior designer, home stager or professional organizer, your project portfolio is one of your greatest marketing tools.

Your portfolio illustrates what you’re able to do for potential clients. It also gives them an idea of your style.

When putting together a portfolio, remember quality over quantity. No one is going to hire you because of the number of projects you’ve done. Also remember that telling the story behind each project is absolute marketing gold.

When designing your portfolio, it’s a great idea to organize your projects by room or project type.

3. Website images provide a better user experience

Images are a great addition to any website. They do so much more than fill up white space and add color to your website. They actually provide a better user experience for visitors to your website which in turn will cause your website to show up higher in search results and get more views.

It’s really simple – visitors to your website won’t read, they’ll scan. Images help break up the text on your site along with providing a visual example of the things you mention on your page. So, by using images, you’re actually helping the visitor understand what you’re trying to convey in your text.

Also, images evoke emotions. So, if you want the visitors to your website to feel a certain way, you can use images to achieve that.

4. Website images mean more than just photos

When you hear the word images you may think that only means photos. But, photos aren’t the only type of visual images you can use on your website.

You can incorporate infographics into your website. They’re a great way to draw visitors to read crucial information.

You can use video on your website. Video is great way to create a lasting impression. They provide supplemental material to the static content on a website.

Another type of image that isn’t static is a Lottie file. Lotties are animation files and they’re great because they are small in file size.
