5 Tips for Your Interior Design Portfolio Page

5 Tips for Your Interior Design Portfolio Page

Your interior design portfolio page is one of the most important and most visited pages on your website.

Here are 5 tips for what makes a good interior design portfolio page:

1. Quality over Quantity

Your interior design portfolio can prove you are a professional without you having to say it. It can also set you apart from other designers.

However, you don’t need a massive portfolio to be impressive. Clients will choose to hire you based on the quality of your work not how many projects are in your portfolio.

2. Professional Photography

The best way to have a stunning interior design portfolio is to use professional photography.

A professional photographer will be able to translate your project into an image that captures the style, quality, craftsmanship and aesthetic you designed. This probably isn’t something you will be able to do yourself with your cell phone.

Professional photography will ensure your designs and your business are represented the way they should be.

3. Create Pages for Each Project

This is something I like do to with all of my interior designer website designs. I like to have a main portfolio page in the menu. That page can have one photo from each project. Then I like to have an individual project page for each each project.

The individual project page is a wonderful place to showcase all of the project photos, a testimonial from the client, the location of the project and information about the project.

Including a write up about the project (or the project details) is great for your potential clients to learn more about you, but it’s also great for SEO (search engine optimization). Google likes fresh content so adding new portfolio project pages to your website is a way to achieve this.

I suggest you get creative with the write up. A few ideas are approaching it from a problem/solution standpoint, discussing the before and after, including credits for other vendors who worked on the project, outlining and fun facts. This is a place where you can get creative!

4. Make Use of Testimonials

Client testimonials are an important component of any website because they provide credibility. Testimonials work because they aren’t strong sales pitches, but rather an unbiased voice that helps establish trust.

Testimonials are a fantastic tool to get prospects to trust your brand and commit to you. I always suggest including a testimonial from that particular client on the individual project page.

5. Include a Call to Action

I’m guessing you have a website because you want to convert visitors into clients. In order for that to happen, you need to let the visitors know what you want them to do and that is your call to action. You can read more about CTAs by clicking here.

Be sure to include that call to action on your main portfolio page and on each project page as well. You want to guide visitors through your website to your end goal.
